                                               Welcome To My Website

Picture

My name is Jean Healey, Children’s Writer.  I was born in Nottingham but now I live in the West Midlands with my partner, daughter Evie and two cats, Peewee and Tinkerbell (and every other cat in the neighbourhood) come to think of it.

I have always had a love of writing, especially poetry and since becoming a mother I have found my passion to write children's picture books.  I was made redundant from my previous job as a Typist in 2009 and it was then I decided to concentrate more on my writing.  In my spare time I volunteer for my local Cats Protection charity as a Home
Visitor.

I do believe that it is important for children to have books in the home.  Not only do they help with their learning, but I like to see children entertained by a good story that makes them want to keep coming back and reading the story all over again.  I love the way that illustrations help books come to life.  There are some really good books out there for children by some brilliant writers, some of whom I have had the pleasure of meeting.

I am also a member of SCBWI (Society of Children's Authors and Illustrators).  A very supportive group, who are encouraging and full of amazing talented people.

Thank you for visiting my site and please feel free to take a look around, where you can find out more about me and what is happening in my life.  For now I continue to write, for as long as it takes. Even the lady in the Post Office now knows why I buy so many stamps!  Hooray for email!

If you are also an aspiring writer, remember the saying “Never give up and if at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again”! I know I will.

Enjoy!
Jean Healey
