Welcome To My Website
My name is Jean Healey, Children’s Writer. I was born in Nottingham but now I live in the West Midlands with my partner, daughter Evie and two cats, Peewee and Tinkerbell (and every other cat in the neighbourhood) come to think of it.
I have always had a love of writing, especially poetry and since becoming a mother I have found my passion to write children's books. Anything from picture books to chapter books. I was made redundant from my previous job as a Typist and it was then I decided to concentrate more on my writing. I also love art and have now started experimenting with paints, so I look forward to sharing my work with you. In my spare time I volunteer for my local Cats Protection charity as a Home Visitor.
I do believe that it is important for children to have books in the home. Not only do they help with their learning, but I like to see children entertained by a good story that makes them want to keep coming back and reading the story all over again. I love the way that illustrations help books come to life. There are some really good books out there for children by some brilliant writers, some of whom I have had the pleasure of meeting.
I am also a member of SCBWI (Society of Children's Authors and Illustrators). A very supportive group, full of amazing talented people.
Thank you for visiting my site and please feel free to take a look around, where you can find out more about me and what is happening in my life. For now I continue to write and if you are also an aspiring writer, remember the saying “Never give up and if at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again”! I know I will.
