Jean Healey - Children's Writer

My name is Jean Healey, Children’s Writer. I was born in
Nottingham but now I live in the West Midlands with my daughter Evie and Tinkerbell the cat (and every other cat in the neighbourhood) come to think of it.
I have always had a love of writing, especially poetry and since becoming a mother I have found my passion to write children's books. Anything from board books, picture books to chapter books. I was made redundant from my previous job as a Typist and it was then I decided to concentrate more on my writing. My current job as a Caregiver leaves me plenty of time to concentrate on what I love doing most.
I do believe that it is important for children to have books in the home. Not only do they help with their learning, but I like to see children entertained by a good story that makes them want to keep coming back and reading the story all over again. I love the way that illustrations help books come to life. There are some really good books out there for children by some brilliant writers, some of whom I have had the pleasure of meeting.
I am also a member of SCBWI (Society of Children's Authors and Illustrators). A very supportive group, full of amazing talented people.
Thank you for visiting my site and please feel free to take a look around, where you can find out more about me and what is happening in my life. For now I continue to write and if you are also an aspiring writer, remember the saying “Never give up and if at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again”! You never know what's round the corner!
Enjoy!
